Welcome from the Head of Secondary

Welcome from the Head of Secondary

I would like to wish you a very warm welcome to Secondary.

In this section of the website you will be able to learn about our curriculum taught in Secondary across Years 7 to 9, IGCSE (Years 10 and 11), and IBDP (Years 12 and 13). As you explore the GIS website you will find out about the value we place on updating and including you in the life of the school through social media.

If you can arrange a visit to the school please do so as it is always a pleasure to meet new parents.  We are always delighted to be able to showcase our facilities and most importantly enable you to see our students and teachers in action.

New families often ask what is special about Garden International School; they would like to know about our pastoral ethos, our teachers, where our students come from and where they go after graduating.  Let me address a few of these questions. We set, expect and achieve strong academic standards; with each individual student being challenged to meet their own potential in a range of fields both academic and non-academic. A great strength of the school is our English based pastoral system where each child is part of a tutor group overseen by a form tutor, who is their first and most frequent point of contact in the school.  Our teachers are highly qualified and care about the education of the students and the students as individuals. We have a truly international selection of students and this is part of what makes Garden a truly international school. Our IBDP graduates attend many prestigious universities around the world on completion of the rigorous IB Diploma Pprogramme.

If you could speak to our Secondary students, they would no doubt mention the wonderful space available in the school, the sports facilities, the caring and dedicated staff, and the opportunities for leadership, performing arts, fun and independence in the school.  They would speak with pride of their role in school productions and the exhibitions of their artwork around the school.

If they, like you, were relatively new to Garden International School they would tell you how welcoming the other students and the staff at the school are, and how quickly they settled into the school. Students walking around the school smile.
