Mr Line Turugaiviu – Head of Mathematics and IT
Mr Turagaiviu, originally from Fiji, joined GIS from Mexico in 2014. He has been involved with international education as a Mathematics’ teacher and curriculum leader since 2005. He is an experienced IB Mathematics’ teacher and he was part of the first IB continuum working party meeting for Mathematics in Cardiff, Wales in 2009. He attended the IB Diploma Grade Award meeting in 2011. Mr Turagaiviu is also an IB examiner and workshop leader for the IB Mathematics’ SL courses. Apart from being a passionate educator, he enjoys playing and coaching rugby, basketball and football.

Mr Bruce Nixon – Mathematics Teacher
Bruce joined GIS in January 2016 from Scotch College in Melbourne, Australia. He is a highly-experienced Mathematics’ teacher at all levels in Secondary up to Higher Level Mathematics in IB. He taught predominantly in Victoria, Australia before taking up a position at Regent's School, Pattaya in 2006. He taught at Bangkok Patana and KIS in Bangkok before returning to Australia in 2013. He was a keen golfer and played competition volleyball in his younger days preferring to coach these days. He also has shown thespian qualities with various amateur theatrical groups he has been involved with over the years.
Mr Colin McKean – Mathematics Teacher
Mr McKean started his career in education in the UK before teaching in Europe then the Middle East, where he liaised with Primary staff to ensure that the transition from Primary to Secondary was smooth in both Mathematics and Science. Mr McKean is here with his wife and two sons (aged 10 and 12).
Mr Thomas Pennant – IT Teacher
Mr Pennant spent six years teaching in Thailand prior to joining GIS in 2014. He gained his PGCE in 2008, and has taught Business Studies as well as ICT. Mr Pennant believes that the digital age will bring many prospects for the current generation of students at GIS, and that it is important to prepare them so that they are able to take advantage of those opportunities. Mr Pennant has been a CIE Examiner for IGCSE ICT since 2012. As well as having a passion for teaching, Mr Pennant enjoys travelling and exploring the wonders of Thailand.
Mr Robert McGregor – Mathematics Teacher
Mr McGregor joined GIS after teaching in Thailand, first at St Stephen's International School (Khao Yai campus) and later Bangkok Christian International School. This is not his first visit to Thailand - he came originally as an AFS Exchange Student to Chonrasadonamrong High School in Chonburi Province, a 90-minute drive north of GIS. Mr McGregor is joined by his wife Khun Orathai (whom he met as an 18-year-old Mattayom 6 student when on exchange) and their two children. Being the rambutan and durian capital of Thailand, Mr McGregor is very happy to now be living in Rayong where he hopes to eat copious amounts of these fruit.
Mr Sean Dowling – IT Teacher
Mr Dowling joined GIS in 2015, having spent the previous ten years working in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Ireland. Mr Dowling has a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, a Master’s in TESOL and a PGCEi. He has a strong interest in using technology to assist learning and has had several articles published in this area. Away from school, Mr Dowling likes to keep fit, read and attempt to play the guitar. He has two daughters studying at GIS as well.
