Mrs Sarah Longstaffe – Head of Physical Education
Mrs Longstaffe joined GIS in August 2016 from the UK where she had been teaching in a Secondary school in Leeds. She has been a teacher for 10 years and has specialties in swimming, dance and games. Mrs Longstaffe loves sport, and enjoys running many after school sport clubs at GIS. When she is not at school she likes to travel with her husband and two children.
Mr Amuchou Yumnam – Sports Coordinator
Mr Amuchou Yumnam holds a Master’s Degree in Physical Culture and Sports as well as a PGCE. He also has additional qualifications in teaching Spanish Language. Prior to GIS, he taught PE in Primary and Secondary, teaching IB Spanish Ab Initio and PYP Spanish for 15 years at an international school in Bangkok. Mr Amuchou has attended numerous professional development programmes, including Swim Australia Teacher of Competitive Strokes, National Rescue Award & Emergency First Responder, UK RLSS Course and British Gymnastics Level 1. He feels privileged to be part of the GIS staff and the learning journey of the students he teaches.

Mr Don Whittle – Physical Education teacher
Mr Whittle joined GIS in 2014 having previously taught in a Thai private school for six years. He has a BA in Sports Studies, a PGCE and a Diploma in Special Educational needs. He is from Northern Ireland, where he taught as both a Physical Education teacher and a Special Needs’ Coordinator for 17 years. Away from school life, Mr Whittle was a keen sportsman and played rugby at both national and international level for Ulster and Ireland. In his free time, he likes to watch sport and travel around Asia.
Mr John Cabacungan – Physical Education Teacher
A keen sportsman from an early age, Mr John trained to teach in the Philippines. He spent several years teaching in the Philippines before moving to teach in Bangkok, and now in Ban Chang. Mr John's particular strengths lie in basketball and swimming, but he also enjoys badminton and volleyball, and will turn his hand to any sport if required. He is an experienced official and tournament organiser, and enjoys teaching sports to students of all ages. Mr John is passionate about instilling a lifelong love of sport into young people, and encouraging them to choose healthy lifestyles.
Khun Gig – Physical Education Teacher
K.Gig joined us from REPS in 2017. Prior to that she was a personal fitness instructor. She also represented Thailand in rugby sevens while studying at university and used to play bass guitar in a band. In her spare time she enjoys playing touch rugby, going to the gym, playing with her cats and sun bathing.
