Encouraging Lifelong Participation

The PE department at GIS is a thriving and busy department that understand the need for pupils to live healthy active lifestyles, thus we have a varied sports program to enhance the PE curriculum. Students from Early Years Foundation Stage to IB1 all participate in PE lessons, where the focus is on building skills and lifelong participation. We also have the option of IGCSE PE for students in Year 10 and 11 to build on their passion for PE and Sport.

The Sports programme at GIS is available to all students in the school and from these teams are selected to represent the school as a GIS Titan in many of the sports offered. Sports clubs in both Primary and Secondary allow students to pursue their passions and give them the opportunity to try new sports , Which we encourage them to continue when moving on from GIS at the end of their school lives.

Regional and International Competitions

In Primary, students are offered sports such as Football, Swimming, Basketball, Athletics and T-Ball where they compete within the local area against other International schools and at the FOBISIA Games. We also have club links where coaches for Football and Taekwondo run sessions for students too.

In Secondary, we offer a range of both competitive and non-competitive clubs in Football, Basketball, Swimming, Badminton, Volleyball, Netball, Athletics and Rounders. We also compete with other international schools in the area and participate in the U13 and U15 FOBISIA Games along with the Senior Games.

At GIS we encourage students child to play for enjoyment along with developing their skills, and our students have been noted for their great sportsmanship in all competitions. We have excellent participation rates in our sports programme with over 50% of the students participating in our clubs.
