Our Curriculum

Garden International School, Rayong is a friendly and family-orientated school, which has community at his heart.

Foundation School

At GIS, we understand how crucial it is for your child to have a positive start to their education, setting the foundation for success throughout their school years. Our holistic approach focuses on developing the whole child by nurturing three prime areas of learning: personal, social, and emotional development; communication and language; and physical development. Additionally, we emphasize four specific areas of learning: literacy, mathematics, expressive arts and design, and understanding the world, ensuring your child is equipped for a well-rounded and fulfilling educational journey.

Primary

At GIS, your child will benefit from an international curriculum based on the British education system, tailored to meet the diverse needs of our global student body. We emphasize key academic skills like literacy and numeracy while fostering independence, creativity, critical thinking, and communication. Our dedicated teachers ensure that your child experiences a well-rounded and engaging education, supported by specialists in languages, Music, Physical Education, Swimming, as well as English Language Support (ELS) and Special Educational Needs (SEN). GIS Primary provides an exceptional foundation for your child’s learning journey.

Secondary

In secondary school, we provide your child with an engaging and supportive learning environment built around an international curriculum, using the British system as a framework tailored to suit the diverse needs of our students. Whether your child chooses to pursue higher education in Thailand or abroad, they will be fully prepared for the challenges ahead. We focus on fostering positive relationships between parents and teachers to ensure that you feel informed and confident throughout your child’s time with us. At GIS, we set high academic standards, challenging each student to reach their full potential in both academic and non-academic areas.

In Years 10 and 11, your child will have the chance to explore a wide range of subjects, with each successfully completed course earning them an International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). At Garden International School, we use the highly respected Cambridge International as our examining body, whose qualifications are recognized in over 10,000 schools across more than 160 countries.

IB Diploma

In Years 12 and 13, your child will study the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), recognized worldwide as the top pre-university qualification. With an IB Diploma from GIS, your child will have the opportunity to attend some of the world’s leading universities. The IBDP emphasizes lifelong learning, academic excellence, and cultural diversity—values that align perfectly with our own Core Values, making GIS the ideal choice for your child’s academic success and personal growth.

Overview of Inclusion

At Garden we believe a holistic and inclusive approach to education is the way forward. As such, in-class support, coaching cycles, collaborative-planning and co-teaching will be the priority for supporting students identified as having difficulty accessing the curriculum. This could be for issues related to EAL (English as an Additional Language) or SEND (Special Educational Needs or Disabilities).

Support will primarily and initially consist of Quality First Teaching (QFT); lessons that are differentiated and scaffolded to ensure all individual students can access. This is achieved through the careful planning by teachers, with support from the EAL and SEN department. Teachers and support assistants will have regular training and meetings, as well as attending collaborative planning sessions to ensure needs are being met. In addition, there will be in-class support, according to the individual need of the student.

We take an individualised approach to supporting learners. Those identified as in need of additional support will have a ‘learner passport’ developed with all stakeholders’ input included (student, parents, teachers, counsellor, administrators, external providers). This will work on an ‘assess, plan, do, review’ cycle and will outline the best approach in supporting that child, using the variety of interventions available.
